Why Baby Boomers Love Ballroom Dancing

A friend of mine who is a baby boomer like me, was wondering why so many baby boomers enjoy ballroom dancing. I didn't find this so surprising having read some articles on the psychology of the baby boom generation, sometimes called the Peter Pan generation. We don't relish growing up, especially if it means rocking chairs or being a couch potato. The baby boomers like to be active, they are from the era that was very idealistic and believed we would never grow old. Many baby boomers have realized that they will probably continue working well into their seventies and they will dance. It is not surprising that the generation, many who did not learn to ballroom dance when they were young, is learning how to ballroom dance now. They are too mature to do Tequila shooters at the local bars, they are health conscious, they grew up with radios and pop music, they did not grow up in a virtual world watching television or a computer screen. They grew up moving to the music, skiing, surfing during a time when one was expected to live life to the max.
